From 1968, the Grand Canyon of Verdon opens to rock-climbing.
The cliff of Escalès, accessible by the Ridge Road, allows to open multi-pitch routes of more than 200 meters long, on one of the most beautiful limestones of the world. Going down rappelling, directly from the viewpoints reduces the walks to get to the spots.
In the 80s, thanks to Patrick Edlinger and many other famous climbers, the Grand Canyon of Verdon becomes one of the most respected climbing spots in the world.
